Sweet Story

Success stories from students.

Recently, I received an email from a recent CSU graduate who took the entire summer after his graduation to bike across the United States with a friend to raise money for Invisible Children. Many students I talk with want to do something similar, feel driven to do something similar, but are stopped by very real concerns. What impact will this have on my job search? Will this affect my future negatively beyond that search for a first post-graduation job? What about loans and money? Mark didn't let these concerns stop him and the result has been amazing....

Vibe Manager, Hard Rock Hotel Do you like the atmosphere in the Hard Rock? People like John Resnick make it all come together. By ERIN CHAMBERS Special to THE WALL STREET JOURNAL Even though John Resnick was raised with what he calls "hippie parents who were really into music," he never dreamed he'd end up working with music for a living. Today, armed with a prestigious graduate degree, he's a slave to rock and roll, and actually gets paid to keep one California hotel grooving. Erin Chambers sat down with Mr. Resnick to discuss his unusual career path. Edited excerpts follow. Monica Hoover Full...

On February 22 the Career Center took students on their first ever Career Road Trip. We loaded up the van and headed south to get the inside scoop on what makes northern Colorado companies tick. This day was focused on careers in business, so we made stops at Burns Marketing, Colorado Eagles, and Target and found all three companies had great internship programs and loved to hire CSU grads! Burns Marketing had some great tips for students on how to stand out from the crowd and how to get hired at any company. They had a...

I wanted to thank you again for all your help during my job search and resume preparation at CSU. I also wanted to share some good news--I just took a position with the University of Notre Dame as an Assessment Counselor in their Office of Alcohol and Drug Education. I couldn't be more ecstatic about the opportunity and feel very grateful to you for your patience and thoroughness as I prepared months ago for looking for a job upon graduating from my master's program. Thank you again and know your hard work was part of this success! -E

Hi! I wanted to write and thank you again for all of your help with interviewing/cover letters/my job search, etc. Per your advice, I switched up my cover-letter strategy and looked more in-depth at the PR positions listed on the career website. I ended up with several interviews (and subsequent offers for each one!) and have accepted a position with the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce for the summer as their Communications Intern. I couldn't have done it without all of your assistance! Thank you so much! Hope you are having a great week! S (Liberal Arts student)

K:    I wanted to send a quick email to thank you for your help with my resume a few weeks ago. It was tremendously helpful. So helpful in fact, that I've landed a full time job as a Physical Therapy Aide recently. My new bosses even mentioned how professional my resume looked! Anyways, thank you again. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help. I look forward to meeting with you in the upcoming months to discuss my personal statement and tips for school admissions ;) Respectfully,      O  (Health and Exercise Science Major)
